Helen Preston

Helen Marjorie Preston, the daughter of Grover and Ruby (Kerkmann) Dodge, was born December 11, 1915 in Cass County, Iowa. Helen entered eternal rest on December 23, 2014 at CHI Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa at the age of 99 years and 12 days.
Helen was united in marriage to Fletcher Jason Preston on September 14, 1935 at Carl, Iowa. Five children were born to bless this union: Shirley, Conie, Leo, Rita and Morris. She was a resident of Adams and Cass County all of her life living on the farm until retirement when she moved to Corning, Iowa where she currently resided. She was an active member in the Mt Etna and Corning United Methodist Churches. She enjoyed family gatherings, her flower garden and was an avid quilter.
Helen is survived by her daughters: Shirley Fleharty of Corning, IA and Rita Preston of Des Moines, Iowa; her sons: Leo (Donna) Preston of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Morris Preston of Donahue, Iowa; son-in-law Russell Gordon of Lenox; her sisters: Dorothy McCune of Audubon, Iowa and Joan (Dean) Windom of Bethany, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Fletcher; daughter: Conie Gordon; granddaughter: Cathy Preston; grandson: Jerry Fleharty; great-granddaughter: Payton Porter; sister: Vera Joye Ryan; brother: Varel Dodge.
