Hubert M. Kissler

Hubert Marion Kissler, son of Henry and Winifred (Thompson) Kissler, was born on July 26, 1922 on the farm which was settled by his great-grandparents in rural Bridgewater, Iowa. Hubert entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa at the age of eighty-eight years.
Hubert graduated from Corning High School in 1940. Hubert served in the United States Army during WWII entering the service in December of 1944. He was stationed in Guam and Iwo Jima and received an honorable discharge in November 1946. Hubert has been a member of the American Legion OURCQ Post 117 since 1944.
On June 19, 1949, Hubert was united in marriage to Mildred Milree Reynolds at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Etna. The couple made their home on the farm one mile east from Hubert’s birthplace where they lived their entire adult lives raising corn, oats, soybeans, hay, cattle and hogs in their years of farming. In 1976 the farm was recognized as a century family farm.
Hubert was an active member of the Carl United Methodist Church of the Corning Parish and the Adams County Sheriff’s Posse since it was organized in October 1969.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Irene Abbey of Bridgewater, nieces and nephews: Mary husband Steve) Fisher of Red Oak, Iowa, Janet Ross of Farragut, Iowa, Richard (wife Karen) Abbey of Kentucky and Barbara (husband Richard) Valdez of Colorado; special families: Danny and Karen Tucker, Rob and Brenda Tucker, Rae Ann Tucker, Ryan and Lori Tucker, Stephanie Tucker, Rachel Tucker, Erin Tucker, Brooke Tucker, Kylee Tucker, Tyler Tucker, Cameron Tucker, Sophia Carroll and Greg and Jolene Wildin and their families.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Milree in 2009; brother-in-law, Leland Abbey.
