Ilene Johnston

Ilene Marie (Polson) Johnston, daughter of Forest J. and Lela Marian (Reed) Polson, was born February 2, 1927 on a farm north of Prescott, Iowa, and passed away at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida on December 16, 2008.
On November 6, 1950, Ilene was united in marriage with Joseph A. Johnston of Prescott and they spent 58 happy years together. To this union was born Bonita Marian and Alan David.
Ilene graduated from Prescott High School in 1944 then worked at the First National Bank in Prescott before traveling for several years with her husband, who was then a professional musician. After returning to Prescott, Ilene was a homemaker and mother before returning to work at the Creston Hospital, then at Okey-Vernon National Bank in Corning where she worked for more than 25 years.
Ilene was a member of the Prescott United Church, and contributed to the church community as both pianist and choir member. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star in Prescott for several years, and served as Worthy Matron.
She is survived by her husband, Joe of St. Cloud, Florida; daughter, Bonnie and husband Dennis Price of Kissimmee, Florida; son, Alan and wife Jane Ellis of Raleigh, North Carolina; sisters: Dolores and husband Norman Holste of Massena, Iowa and Marilyn Lavon and husband Jerry Cunningham of Urbandale, Iowa; brother, Lyle and wife Marlys Polson of Estes Park, Colorado; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Her parents, brothers: Max Polson of Urbandale, Iowa and Glen Polson of Des Moines, Iowa, preceded her in death.
