Irene Pesik, 93, of Creston, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Crest Haven Care Centre, Creston, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 8, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Creston. Father Kenneth Halbur, Jr. will officiate. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Creston. Open Visitation will be 1:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday, September 7 at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. The Rosary will be said and a Christian Wake Service will be held beginning at 7:00 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home. Irene Helen Pesik, the daughter of Anthony Joseph and Anna (Tomann) Pesik, was born on November 22, 1918, in Spaulding Township in Union County, Iowa. Irene lived in the Creston/Union County area her entire life. She was a homemaker and very active on the family farm. Irene raised chickens, sold eggs, and used the chicken feathers to make pillows and gave them as gifts.
Irene was a lifelong member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Pesik family were instrumental in the founding of Immaculate Conception Parish. Irene volunteered many hours in helping St. Malachy School and received the “Spirit of St. Malachy Award” in May, 2006.
Preceding Irene in death were her parents; and nine brothers and sisters: Sylvester, Alfred, Paul, and Ed Pesik; Magdelene, Albena, Frances, and Rosalie Pesik; and one infant brother.
