James M Collins

James M Collins was born February 1, 1931 in Springfield, MA , the son of Milton James and Florence (Shea) Collins. James entered eternal rest on Monday, November 30, 2015 at the age of 84 years, nine months and 29 days.
James graduated high school in Springfield, MA with the class of 1949. James was inducted into the U.S. Army on August 8, 1951 in Springfield, MA. He served one year and three months overseas during the Korean War and received a Combat Infantryman’s Badge, United Nations Service Medal and Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. James was honorably discharged May 7, 1953 at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. He went on to attend three years of college and married Jane Couture in Claremont, New Hampshire on October 13, 1956. Four children were born to bless this union. The couple recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Jim worked as a Source Inspector for Pratt Whitney Aircraft Co. for more than 30 years, where he inspected the jet engine airplane parts. He received early retirement in 1988. Later James and Jane moved to Creston where he took a position with Wellman Dynamics for three years.
Jim was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. Together the couple volunteered at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston working at the Information desk.
James was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Anne Collins.
Left to cherish James’ memory is his loving wife Jane Collins of Creston; children: Michael (Janis) Collins, Lexington, SC; Maureen Rozek, South Bend, IN; James Jr. (Sherry) Collins South Korea; Marilyn Richardson, La Porte, IN: eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren: sister; Mary (Brainerd) Buffum, W. Springfield, MA. James is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
