James Wilson

April 20, 1951 — July 19, 2014

James Michael Wilson, the youngest son of Ray Everett and Virginia Maxine (Emhoff) Wilson, was born in Creston, IA on April 20, 1951. James passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA on Saturday, July 19, 2014. He was 63 years old.
James was educated in the Creston Public Schools and graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1969. Early in his adult life, James developed his love of the land and a passion for farming. He was always on the move but never happier than when he was in his tractor. Together with his brother Raymond, James farmed the Wilson Family Farm for many years. James was a hard worker and began working part-time for UPS washing delivery trucks. A few years later he started as a full-time Loader and was then promoted to a Driver. James retired from UPS after 33 years of service, in part, due to his declining health.
James served his country in the US Army Reserve during the Vietnam Era but was never called into Active Duty. James was a member of the Teamsters Union and served as the Union Steward for many years. He was a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and a member of the “I Club” and held season tickets to football games for over 30 years. James was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. James loved his pets, antiquing and auctions; camping with his friends (who he loved as family) and watching Westerns.
Left to mourn James’ passing is his long-time partner and best friend since 1997, Ginny Fett of Creston; Ginny’s daughter, Keri Johnson of West Des Moines; Ginny’s grandson, Derek Johnson; his sister-in-law, Suzie Wilson-McCall of Fontanelle; a niece, Erin (Steve) Wilson-Murty of Gladbrook, IA and a nephew, Chris(Carolyn) Wilson of Creston. James is also survived by his great-nieces: Rhianna and Skyler Murty; his great-nephews: Kaden Wilson and Conner and Layne Murty and by numerous cousins and friends.
Preceding James in death was his parents and his brother, Raymond Wilson.
