Jean B. Sinning

Jean Brandt Sinning of Corning, Iowa, was born on April 17, 1923 to Arthur and Esther (Snitker) Brandt in Frankville, Iowa and entered into rest on June 11, 2007 at the Vintage Park Assisted Living Center at the age of eighty-four years, one month and twenty-five days.
Jean attended the Frankville School through 8th grade and graduated from Decorah High School. She earned her A. A. degree from Luther College and began her teaching career in Alexander, Iowa.
Jean was married to Wilton H. Sinning on June 14, 1944, in the Presbyterian Church in Frankville. They had four children: Mark, Diane, Judy, and David. She was the ideal ministers wife, participating in choirs, Sunday Schools, and other church organizations in Armstrong, Iowa; Emery, South Dakota, and Corning, Iowa. She was particularly interested in music, directing and singing in church and community choirs. Jean was active in community organizations such as Departmental Club, Womens Club, P. E. O., and Rotary Ann. She was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1999.
When her children were in school, Jean went back to college to earn her B. S. degree at Northwest Missouri State University. She taught in the Corning and Prescott schools until her retirement in 1980. Jean and Bill spent much of their retirement years serving as Volunteers in Mission through the Presbyterian Church U. S. A. in Sitka, Alaska; Mt. Pleasant, Utah; Stoney Point, New York and Homestead, Florida. They also enjoyed traveling to Germany, Russia, and Spain and throughout the United States.
Jean is survived by her children: Diane (David) Bradley of Danville, California; Judy (Michael) Storin of Aurora, Colorado and David Sinning and significant other, Jenny Boswell of Tuttle, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Scott and Jill Bradley of Danville, California; Joel, Carrie, and Ben Storin of Aurora, Colorado; Kellen Sinning of Boulder, Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Alice Bulman and Marion Laterman; her son, Mark, and her loving husband of 59 years, Bill.
