Jean M. Boyd

Jean M. Boyd, 86, of Creston died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the Skagg Community Health Center, Branson, Missouri. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 25, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Creston. Rev. Valerie Burgess will officiate. Interment will be at the Graceland Cemetery, Creston. Open Visitation will be from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 24, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Jean’s name, to be determined at a future date. Jean Mattelyn Boyd, the daughter of A. John and Grace (Graham) Boyle, was born in Waterman, Illinois on February 23, 1926.
Jean attended school and graduated from the Waterman, Illinois high school. She attended college in Bowling Green, Kentucky for two years.
On June 25, 1948, she married Clair L. Boyd at a country church near Somonauk, Illinois. In June, they would have been married for sixty-four years.
Jean worked as a teller at the First National Bank when she first moved here from Illinois. Jean and Clair began their life in Creston and joined the family business, Boyd Construction. Boyd Construction built the spec buildings that became the factories in Creston. Jean was the secretary and bookkeeper. She also drove the truck to pick up the plumbing supplies and appliances.
Jean was a member of the United Methodist Church in Creston since 1959. She was active in the church as a MYF Leader and church organist.
Left to cherish Jean’s memory is her husband, Clair L. Boyd, Creston; her daughters: Connie (husband Peter) Marcellus, Branson, MO; and Ronda Boyd, San Diego, CA; her six grandchildren: Eric Kilgore; Matthew Johnsen; Josiah Twombley; Theron Marcellus; Jennifer Patterson; and Amanda Miles; her eight great-grandchildren: Paige, Kyle and Tyler Kilgore; Michael and Christopher Marcellus; Audrey and Alden Johnsen; and Leah Patterson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Jean in death were her parents; her daughter, Barbara Jean Boyd; and her brother, Reid Boyle.
