Jerry Franklin Means, son of Kenneth and Virginia (Cosade) Means, was born on March 8, 1948 in near Carbon in rural Adams County, Iowa. Jerry entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at his home near Clarinda in rural Taylor County, Iowa, at the age of sixty-one years.
Jerry attended Corning School. He later worked as a janitor at the High School and Elementary School and also drove a school bus for several years. He worked for Adams County for many years and also, drove over-the-road in a semi-truck. Jerry loved to collect “John Deere” memorabilia; and loved to care for his cows and goats on the farm.
Jerry was married to Joyce McManis for sixteen years. He was married to Kathleen Brown for about a year.
Left to cherish Jerrys memory are: his daughter, Jeanne (husband Jeff) Landrum, of Iowa, his sons: Jerry Jr. (wife Kylene) Means of Glendive, Montana and Jarid (wife Crystal) Means of Conway, Arkansas; and his daughter Jennifer Davis (and special friend Tom Morris), of Raleigh, Iowa; his twelve Grandchildren: Andrew, Kade and Alyssa Means; Katie, Clayton and Cami Davis; Kyle and Kayla Means; Colby Meyer; Ann Marie and Cassie Maher, and Jacob Wolfe; his Mother, Virginia Means of Brooks, IA; his Sisters: Tammy (husband Lynn) Means of Cumberland, IA; Judy (husband Roger) VanSyok of Sidney, IA; and Melody Olson of Corning; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Means; his sister, Sherry; and his grandparents.
