Jessie Hill was born July 29, 1907, to Frank and Flora (Wild) Houck in Adams County. She attended a rural school and graduated from Corning High School in 1924. On July 3, 1924, Jessie married Clifford Hill. They made their home and raised a family on a farm in Lincoln Township. Jessie lived in Adams County her entire life. She supported both the Carbon Methodist Church (where she was a charter member of the WSCS) and the Strand Lutheran Church with her time, cooking and needlework for annual bazaars. She was an avid hobbyist, loved flowers and thrilled to travel.
Survivors include a daughter, Lavonne Israel of Ames, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Ada, Clifford, and Verlin Houck, her husband Clifford in 1974, grandson David Hill in 1975 and son Dean Hill in 2001.
