Jim Means, 67, of Creston, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 809 West Montgomery Street, Creston, Iowa. Reverend Jodi Rushing will officiate. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021 at the funeral home. Jimmy “Jim” Franklin Means, the son of Ralph Bingley and Phyllis Marie (Stice) Means, was born on November 15, 1953 in Creston, Iowa. Jim graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1972. He then attended Southwestern Community College and graduated in 1976 with an Associate’s Degree in drafting. In 1975 Jim married Michelle Andrews at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Creston. Two girls: Misty and Summer blessed this union. The couple divorced in 1998.

Jim worked for nine years at Vanmark and would later operate his own screen printing business. He then began Jim’s Handyman’s Service and would operate that for a short time. As a side job he was a photographer taking family and senior pictures.

Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching softball and following his Iowa Hawkeyes. He coached little league softball for five years and was Commissioner of the league for one year. Jim was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Creston.

Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his daughters: Misty (Brad) Johnston of Creston and Summer (Larry) Murdock of Creston; grandchildren: Saige Johnston, Josie Johnston, Ricci Johnston and Evan Murdock; sisters: Vicki Means of Ormond, Florida and Nancy (Larry) Latham of Creston; brothers: Larry (Pat) Means of Creston and Kevin (Andrea) Means of LaVista, Nebraska; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ralph and Phyllis.
