John Giza

Burial will be at St. Edwards Catholic Cemetery in Afton, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to St. Edwards Catholic Church and/or St. Malachy School.
John Giza was born to Anna (Misior) and Joseph Giza on November 18, 1921, in Skrzyna District of Myslenice, Poland. John entered eternal rest on December 12, 2006, at Creston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five years and twenty-four days.
On July 13, 1947, John married Vera Kostenko in Salsburg, Austria. John immigrated to the United States from Austria in 1949. The Catholic Church sponsored the family and they settled in Talmage, Iowa, in 1949. John began working for the CGW Railroad in June 1949. In 1952, he began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in the summer of 1983. John was a member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Afton, Iowa.
Left to mourn Johns passing is his wife: Vera Giza, Creston; his children: Stanley (wife Lynda) Giza, Osceola; John (wife Sherrill) Giza, Creston; Carol (husband Gary) McNichols, Creston; Ed (wife Donnette) Giza, Council Bluffs; Mary Giza, Creston; Eleven Grandchildren; and Thirteen Great-Grandchildren.
Preceding John in death were his parents; Son: Carl Giza (at age 7 in 1964); Two Brothers; and One Sister.
