John Marquardt, Sr

January 9, 1933 — January 23, 2015

John Milton Marquardt, Sr. son of Paul and Orvilla (Cramer) Marquardt, was born January 9, 1933 in Lyons, NE and passed away peacefully January 23, 2015 at the Corning Nursing and Rehab at the age of 82 years and 9 days.
In 1945 the family moved to Kennard, NE where John graduated from Kennard High School with the class of 1950. He worked many years at Nixon Feed Mill and Union Packing Plant in Omaha, NE. He started farming when he was eleven years old and purchased eighty acres in Kennard, NE in 1959.
On June 12, 1959 John was united in marriage to Elaine Knight at Temple Baptist Church in Omaha, NE, where John was a member. John and Elaine farmed in Kennard for seven years where three daughters were born, Linda, Diane and Karen. They moved to Nodaway, Iowa in March of 1966 and purchased 240 acres. A son: John Jr., was born in 1970.
John was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Corning, IA where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, teacher in Awana, and occasionally preached.
John is survived by his wife, Elaine; three daughters: Linda Weaver of Altoona, IA; Diane Warner of LaVerne, CA; Karen (Roger) Brant of Glidden, IA; and John (Wendy) Marquardt, Jr of Creston, IA; his sister: Arla Likes of Mason, OH twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Clyde and Lynn Marquardt; and a great grandson Oliver Warner.
