John R. Fletcher

John Robert Fletcher, the son of Everett Troy and Alice Alcista (Wimer) Fletcher, was born on May 14, 1937, near Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa. John entered eternal rest on January 24, 2007, at the Afton Care Center, Afton, Iowa, at the age of sixty-nine years, eight months, and twelve days.
John graduated from Redding High School. On October 18, 1959, he married Karolyn Kay Ergenbright in Shannon City. They later divorced in 1991. John served in the United States Air Force from December, 1960, until December, 1964.
John lived in Creston for 42 years. He lived in Arizona during the time he was in the Air Force and also lived in Scottsbluff, NE for a few years. John owned and operated Fletcher Plumbing and Heating for over 20 years. Prior to starting his plumbing business, he worked for Purolator in Creston and for Tractor Supply.
John was a member of the Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797; and the Eagles Lodge in Creston.
Left to mourn Johns passing are his daughters: Lori Fletcher (companion Dave Carlisle), Shannon City; and Lisa (husband Bob) Miller, Creston; his Grandchildren: Dusti and Dillon Carlisle; Skylar, Chad and Jake Miller; his brothers: David Fletcher (special friend, Barb Pickett), Grand Junction, CO; Richard Fletcher (special friend, Cindy Love), Afton; Tom Fletcher, Diagonal; Larry Fletcher, Creston; Charles (wife Roxie) Fletcher, Diagonal; and Steve Fletcher, Mount Ayr; his sisters: Peggy (husband Ted) Olson, Mitchelville, IA; Karen (husband Dale) Magee, Creston; and Patti (husband Ronnie) Bird, Creston; Sister-in-law: Bonnie Fletcher, Diagonal.
Preceding John in death were his parents: Mother Alice on November 22, 2006; Father Everett on May 10, 1987; and Brother Ed Fletcher on September 7, 2005.
