John R. Richards

John R. Richards, 69, of Creston, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for John and his sister Jeanie Richards who passed on October 7, 2017 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 809 West Montgomery Street, Creston, Iowa. Reverend Mary O’Riley will officiate. Causal dress is requested and masks are optional. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the funeral home. John Robert Richards was born May 23, 1952 to John H. and Mary E. (Larkin) Richards in Creston. John graduated from Creston High School. John was a very good mechanic and was always particular in the way he did his work. He worked for Martin Brothers before beginning his time at Hi Crest Auto. Most recently he was employed for 20 years at Bunn-O-Matic in Creston before retirement.

John enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and attending the races at the Adams County Speedway. He loved to cruise and show off his Shelby Mustang.

Left to cherish John’s memory is his faithful companion “Lucky” the dachshund; sister, Jane Richards of Corning; uncle, David and aunt Ruth Larkin of Colorado; nieces: Abigail Petersen of Corning, Cheryl Richards, Suanne (Kevin) Peterson and Terri Richards; nephew, Jerry Lee “Bub” (Angel) Richards; two great nephews; four great nieces; one great-great niece; one great-great nephew, all of Creston; along with many cousins and friends.

Preceding John in death were his parents and grandparents; brother, Jerry Richards in October 2015; sister, Jeanie in October 2017; an infant niece; step-brother, Byrle Poush; step-sister, Roberta Campbell; nephew, Gerald Dean Richards and many aunts and uncles.
