Judy Crago

January 15, 1949 — March 4, 2018

Judy Crago, 69, of Allerton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston.
Judy Kay Crago, the daughter of Henry John and Helen Margaret (Inlow) Tanner, was born January 15, 1949, in Creston. She attended school at Orient-Macksburg, graduating with the class of 1967. Judy was united in marriage to Dean Arthur Crago on June 8, 1973, in Clearfield. Dean and Judy shared a love of square dancing together. They also enjoyed traveling together and shared lots of loving memories.
Judys passion in life were her kids she took care of for over 20 years. She began her career providing childcare in Creston. Her joy for life and compassion for kids were spread among several families. She then worked in the housekeeping department at the Creston hospital for a short time, before working at the Super 8 until her retirement in 2001. After retirement, Judy moved to live with her sister Patty and brother-in-law Keith Jones of Allerton. Judy “retired” but continued to take care of her family. She watched 5 of her great nieces and nephews during this time. She enjoyed baking with them, teaching them the fine craft of cross stitching, playing any type of game with them, and taking them to lunch just because and then a trip to the Wal-Mart store. As she called them “her babies” and they all knew Aunt Judy would spoil them rotten.
She had many hobbies including, cross stitching, word searches, baking and any games played with children. Judys biggest joy in her life was spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews, for whom she quilted quilts for as they graduated high school. In her younger years Judy spent countless hours, weeks, and even months with her nieces and nephews. It wasnt uncommon for them to stay a week on the farm and bake several dozen cookies, take a trip to the swimming pool, attend the local county fair to watch rodeos/demo derbies, milk the cow with Dean, take a quiet walk down the dirt road, and hang out watching the Price Is Right together. She was willing to do anything for her family.
Judy was a member of the Union Squares, Neighborhood Card Party, Busy Bees Club and the Farm Bureau. Her faith was important to her as she was also a member of the Gospel Chapel in Greenfield and the Mercer Assembly of God.
Left to cherish Judys memory are her brother and sister: Dennis (Becky) Tanner of Fontanelle and Patty (Keith) Jones of Allerton; nieces and nephews: Scott (Katie) Jones, Carla (Aaron) Perkins, Lacey (Troy) Shipley, Kyle ( Jesi) Tanner, Justin (Peyton) Tanner; great-nieces and great-nephews: Brooke, Hunter, Kaylee, Brea, Emma, Rayni, Ava, Mackenna, Tikka Lou, Dalton and Cruze; along with many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Judy in death were her parents, Henry and Helen, and her husband, Dean.
