Karen Larkin of Shenandoah, Iowa, formerly of Creston, passed away at her home in Shenandoah on Thursday, April 14, 2022. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston. Memorial contributions are directed to the family. Karen Louise Larkin was born February 2, 1967 in California, the daughter of Joseph Edward and Phyllis Lorraine (Clark) Howard. Karen was raised and educated in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Bahner College of Hair Design and received her Cosmetology License. Karen had been working in Omaha as a Hair Dresser for 5 years when she married Brett Wayne Larkin in 1989. To this union, 2 sons were born: Richard and Randy.

In 1992, the family moved to Creston where Karen worked at Bunn and continued cutting hair for her family and friends. Karen and Brett were divorced after 18 years of marriage and Karen returned to Omaha. She moved back to Creston in 2019 to be closer to her family and lived in Shenandoah the last 7 months of her life.

Karen is survived by her sons: Richard Larkin of Utah and Randy Larkin (fiance’, Peyton Larabee) of Creston; 5 grandchildren; sister, Collene (Paul) Sabaliauskas of Omaha, Nebraska; and by 2 nieces.

Preceding Karen in death were her parents and her companion, Tom E.
