Katherine Quinn

Katherine Lorraine (Penn) Quinn was born on January 11, 1944 to James Raymond and Pearl Duvera (Beaver) Penn in Corning, Iowa. Katherine entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Weldon, Iowa at the age of sixty-nine years, six months and seventeen days.
Katherine attended Corning High School and graduated with the Class of 1962. She was united in marriage to Eugene Herman Burgmaier, divorcing after twenty-years of marriage.
Katherine was a homemaker. She raised her children while working as a seamstress. She loved tending to her vegetable garden and quilting. She spent many hours making dolls and teaching her grandchildren to cook and to sew. In her later years, Katherine received her CNA and provided home health care for the elderly. Katherine really enjoyed people and her natural care-taking expanded to include her love for dogs and cats.
Katherine’s faith in the Lord was strong and she lived with compassion for people and generously donated to several Christian charities over the years.
Left to cherish Katherine’s memory are her daughters: Sandi (Ron) Swanson of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, Gino’ Thompson of Dubuque, Iowa, Jacque (Tom) Newton of Weldon, Iowa, Sarah (Bob) Stuart of Corning, Iowa and Chrissy (Stephen) Owen of Corning, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Brenna Swanson, Christopher Smith, Tyler Gibler, Melissa Neese, Rowdy Neese, Jonathan Stuart, Jordan Stuart, Dominick Sexton, Olivia Sexton and Christian Sexton; one great-grandson, Deegan Neese; sister, Beverly (Glenn) Walter of Corning, Iowa; brother-in-law, Harry Wiechman of Corning, Iowa and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters: Marilyn Bixler and Shirley Wiechman.
