Keith M. Daniels, 81, of Creston died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Greater Regional Hospice Home, Creston, Iowa. Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church, Creston. Rev. Jim Morris and Rev. Jim Woodworth will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date. There will be no public viewing. Family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 16, at the church, prior to the service. Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in Keiths name. Keith Marshall Daniels, the son of Loran Alvin and Alma Christine (Holt) Daniel, was born on a farm near Ottosen, Iowa. Keith attended Bradgate schools through the 4th grade. His parents moved to Ottosen in 1940, where he attended the Ottosen Consolidated Schools and graduated in 1949.
On October 7, 1950, Keith married Emogene Delores Snyder at the United Methodist Church in Boone, Iowa. They farmed on the Snyder family farm south of Boxholm from 1953 until 1979. He traded his farm for a larger farm in Creston, where he farmed until 1994 Through the years, he worked for Archway Bakery in Boone, drove school bus for the Boxholm schools, worked for Oscar Mayer in Perry for 14 years; and worked for SIRHA in Creston. He also managed apartments and group homes, worked at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, and Stine Seed in Minburn. Keith and Emogene lived in Boone, Boxholm, Perry, Waukee, Grimes and Creston during their long marriage.
Wherever he lived, Keith was always very active in church and community activities. He sang in church choirs for many years, and he was especially proud to have been a long-time member of the Pilot Mound Community Mens Chorus. Keith was an active member of the Methodist Church in Bradgate, Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottosen, the Methodist Church in Boone, EUB and Methodist churches in Boxholm, and the Presbyterian churches in Boone, Perry and Creston.
Left to cherish Keiths memory is his wife of over 62 years, Emogene Daniels, Creston; his daughter, Dee Daniels, Bakersfield, CA; his sons: Denny (Christine) Daniels, Waverly, IA; and Dave (Holly) Daniels, Perry, IA; his seven grandchildren: Tyler Daniels, Ben Daniels, Michelle (Joe) Haller, Karyn (Ben) Schulte, Lindsay (Richard) Speidel, Jr., Matthew (Leah) Daniels, and Jon Honaker and fiancee Sandee Lake and her daughter Adeline; his six great grandchildren: Ethan, Alayna, Callie, and Lyndie Schulte; Lukas Keith and Sarah Haller; his brother Doug (Donna) Daniel, Burnsville, MN; his sister-in-law, Janet Daniels, Des Moines, IA; his aunts: Mavis Espinosa, Mason City, IA; and Bea Holt, Mankato, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Keith in death were his parents; his brother, Conley Wayne Daniels; his niece, Lisa Daniels Wilson; his son-in-law, Bill Honaker; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey and Leona Snyder; and numerous aunts and uncles.
