Kenneth A. Barger

Kenneth Albert Barger, the son of Samuel Ora and Nellie Irene (Freeland) Barger, was born on December 8, 1922 at LaJunta, Colorado. Kenneth entered eternal rest on May 27, 2009, at Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-six years, five months, and twenty days.
Kenneth graduated from Central High School in Pueblo, Colorado, with the Class of 1940. Kenneth served in the United States Navy from January 15, 1941, until January 14, 1947 during World War II. He served as Machinists Mate 1 and received the following for his service: Navy Unit Commendation 1 Star; Asiatic Pacific 9 Stars; American Area Campaign Medal; Philippine Liberation 2 Stars; American Defense; Good Conduct 1 Star; and World War II Victory Medal.
On July 18, 1950, Kenneth married Dorcas Jane Deacon at Raton, New Mexico. Kenneth and Dorcas lived in Pueblo, Colorado for twenty-five years. Kenneth worked for the Department of Defense at the Pueblo Army Depot as a missile inspector for thirty years. Kenneth retired in 1974 from the Department of Defense and they moved back to Creston.
Kenneth was a fifty-five year member of the American Legion Post #2, Pueblo, CO and Lorimor Post #96; a Life member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Pueblo, Colorado; a member of the Colorado Past Commanders Club; a member of the Eagles Lodge #1398 in Creston; and was a representative of the Boy Scouts in Pueblo, Colorado.
Left to cherish Kenneths memory is his wife Dorcas Barger, Creston; his Son-in-law: Eugene (wife Michael Ann) Spradlin, Valparaiso, IN; his sisters-in-law: Patsy White, Creston; Theo (husband Don) Seddon, Glenwood; and Linda Deacon, Creston; and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents; his daughter: Vicki Spradlin; four brothers; and five sisters.
