Kenneth Edward McElroy, the son of Edward Patrick and Martha Cecelia (Roeder) McElroy, was born in Afton, Iowa, on November 22, 1922. Kenneth entered eternal rest at Greater Regional Hospice Home, Creston, Iowa, on March 5, 2010, at the age of eighty-seven years.
Kenneth lived his entire life in the Creston and Union County area. He graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1941. On April 7, 1948, he married Rose Anne Herring. Rose Anne died March 21, 1950. On June 22, 1985, he married Maxine Beaumont at Creston.
Kenneth farmed in Union and Adams County most of his life. Following his retirement from farming, Kenneth worked as the custodian for the Creston Community Schools. Following his retirement from the schools, Kenneth and Maxine enjoyed traveling with the First National Bank Silver Circle Travel Club.
Kenneth was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus; Iowa Beef Producers and First National Bank Silver Circle Club.
Left to cherish Kenneths memory are his wife: Maxine McElroy, Creston; his daughters: Margaret (Michael) McDavitt, Makakilo, HI; and Mary Tackett, St. Louis, MO; his sons: Terry (Carol) Beaumont, Sioux City, IA; and Gregory (Susan) Beaumont, West Des Moines, IA; Eleven Grandchildren; Fourteen Great-Grandchildren; his brother: John (Kathleen) McElroy, Grand Island, NE; his sisters: Helen Linderman, Creston; Ethel (Jim) Herring, Marion, IA; Mary McElroy, Creston; Margaret (Junior) Kernen, Villisca; Jean (Francis) Vais, Exira, IA; and Patricia Knock, New York City, NY; his brother-in-law: Dick Kuhl, Greenfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding Kenneth in death were his Parents; his first wife, Rose Ann; Two Grandchildren; his son-in-law, Bob Tackett; his brother-in-law: Howard Linderman; and his sister: Kathryn Kuhl.
