Kenneth Virgil Bissell was born to Lois Elizabeth (Murray) and Claude Henry Bissell on April 30, 1917, at Mutual, Oklahoma. Kenneth entered eternal rest on November 5, 2006, at the Afton Care Center, Afton, Iowa, at the age of eighty-nine years, six months, and eight days.
Kenneths mother died in 1925 and so Kenneth was raised by his grandparents in Massena, Iowa, from the age of eight years old. Kenneth graduated from Massena High School with the class of 1935.
On January 9, 1940, he married Mary Margaret Devereaux in Corning, Iowa. Kenneth was a farmer and lived in Adams County, Iowa, most of his life. Kenneth and Mary lived on a farm in northwest Adams County for a few years. Then, they moved to their current home in northeast Adams County in 1944.
Kenneth was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Left to mourn Kenneth s passing are his children: Dick Bissell, Creston; Jane (husband Butch) Miller, Lenox; Marcia (husband Bob) Vest, Ankeny; Three Grandsons: Brian Miller, Lenox; Matthew Bissell, Woodbury, MN; Christopher Vest, Ames, IA; Three Great-Grandchildren: Zachary, Morgan and Brooke Miller; Daughter-in-law: Sue Bissell, Creston; Sisters: Pauline Conrad, Scribner, NE; Claudine Leonard, Long Beach, CA; Sisters-in-law: Jean Bissell, Corning, IA; Carmelita Smith, Hot Springs, AR; and Brother-in-law: Carl “Buck” Devereaux, Bloomfield, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents; wife, Mary in 2006; Grandson: Nicholas Vest; Brother: Lewis Bissell; Sisters: Viva Schaumburg; Donna Armstrong; Uncles and Aunts: Raymond and Theda Bissell; and Ivan and Margaret Bissell.
