Larry Vincent Young, son of Francis Aloysious and Doris Irene (Miller) Young, was born on March 21, 1946 in the old Greater Community Hospital, Creston, Iowa. Larry went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2009 after an extended illness at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of sixty-three years.
Larry graduated from East Union High School with the Class of 1964. After graduation, Larry enlisted into the United States Air Force and went into active duty on October 4, 1964 serving state side, during the Vietnam War, as an aircraft mechanic.
After Larrys Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, Larry worked at various businesses in Creston. Larry became employed by Mid-State Distributing Company as Branch Manager and in Purchasing most of his adult life until his retirement in June of 2009.
Larry was a member of the Catholic faith. He also traveled to many places for his job.
Left to cherish Larrys memory is his mother, Doris Young of Creston, Iowa; brothers: Tony Young, Rick Young (special friend Karla Oliphant) and Jim Young, all of Creston; sisters: Linda (Jean “John”) Benoit of Creston, Carolyn (Denny) Abel of Creston, Sharon (Dean) Nickles of Polk City, Iowa, Tina (Brett) Chapman of Creston: numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Frank Young in 1981; sister-in-law, Beverly Young and niece, Christy Nickles.
