Leroy Waddell

Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery with Military Honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797. Memorials may be directed to the Greater Regional Hospice Home.
Alfred LeRoy Waddell, the son of Alfred Otho and Nellie May (Watts) Waddell, was born on April 6, 1922 in Knowlton, Iowa. LeRoy passed away on September 26, 2007, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five years, five months and twenty-two days.
LeRoy married Josephine Groves in Grant City, Missouri, in 1938. They later divorced.
On April 12, 1947, he married Fern Evelyn (Schofield) in Creston, Iowa.
Roy enlisted in the United States Army on December 26, 1942 at Camp Dodge, Iowa and was honorably discharged as a Tec5 on January 10, 1946. Roy served with Troop E 4th Calvary. He earned one service stripe, received four overseas Service Bars; European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w/ one silver Battle Star; Good Conduct Medal; and World War II Victory Medal.
LeRoy was a long-time resident of Union County. Roy was owner and operator of F R Trucking and Western Iron Metal in Creston. He also drove for Hamms Beer for many years. He drove for the Southern Iowa Trolley Company and later worked as shop supervisor until his retirement at age 80.
LeRoy is survived by his special loved one, Marcie Tyler; his daughters: Helen Mae Waddell (and Friend Scott Coleman), Creston; Mary (Bernie) White, Creston; and Donna (Ron) Fogle, Suprise, AZ; Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Preceding LeRoy in death were his : Parents; Wife, Fern; Daughters: Connie Jean McNichols and Patty (Dodson) Chevelle; Life-long Friend, Junior “Amos” Daub; and Great-Granddaughter, Destiny Miller
