Leland B. Mustain

A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Lelands hometown of Leon, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the family, to be decided at a later date.
Leland B. Mustain, son of Avery Ray and Jesse Marie (Bivens) Mustain, was born on November 10, 1922 in Otis, Colorado. Leland entered eternal rest on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Crest Haven Care Centre, Creston, Iowa at the age of eighty-six years, eleven months and twenty-nine days.
Lelands father, Avery, died as a young adult. After the death of Avery, Lelands mother, Jesse, moved to Leon, Iowa and was married to Clifford Peters and three children were born to this union.
In March of 1951, Leland was united in marriage to Betty L. Hagen, they divorced in 1966 and the couple remained friends for life. Betty preceded Leland in death on July 17, 2004.
On February 12, 1943 Leland went into active service for the Army. He was Honorably Discharged on February 7, 1946 after serving 3 years with the 79th Coast Artillery Battalion.
Leland was an electrician for over 30 years, working for a contractor in Omaha and local businesses in the Creston area. He also worked in the courthouse in Leon, Iowa and for SIRWA as an inspector for several years.
Leland played pool in several different pool leagues, his love and talent for the sport earned him many awards and trophies. Leland also had a passion for fishing and was an avid photographer.
Left to cherish Lelands memory is his son, Paul Mustain of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Joan (husband Kenneth) Scudder of Leon, Iowa; brother, Richard (wife Lorene) Peters of Ft. Collins, Colorado; brothers-in-law: Harold Pickering of Unionville, Missouri and Wayne Zepp of St. Marys, Michigan; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Preceding Leland in death was his father, Avery Mustain, as a young adult; mother, Jessie Mustain; step-father, Clifford Peters; ex-wife and life-long friend, Betty in 2004; infant brother, Nordean Mustain; three sisters: Vera Pickering, Geraldine Hurley and Barbara Zepp.
