Leland James Wilson was born to Jessie (Holland) and Charles D. Wilson on September 3rd, 1917, in Grant Township, Union County, Iowa.
Leland entered eternal rest on December 2nd, 2006, in his home at the age of eighty-nine years, two months, and twenty-nine days.
Leland attended Grant #9 school with his three brothers. On September 18th, 1941, he married Margie Lorraine Hunt at the Methodist Church in Maryville, Missouri, and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. Leland was a farmer all of his life starting in Grant Township, then in Platte, then in Spaulding where he raised Farmers Hybrid hogs for several years and continued after moving to Douglas Township. He started out feeding cattle with a five gallon bucket, then progressing to tractor operated feed wagons. Leland was a member of the Cromwell Congregational Church of Christ. Every year you could find Leland helping with the Mens Lenten Breakfast in the kitchen washing dishes.
Left to mourn Lelands passing are his wife Margie of rural Creston; his son C. Wayne and wife Cheryl of Lenox; his daughter-in-law Linda Wilson of Creston; his five granddaughters: Marnie Cline and husband Mike of Prescott; Deborah Casebolt and husband Eric of Iowa City; Angee Hartsock and Jodee Goodin of Des Moines; and Kellee Wilson of Creston; three step-grandchildren: Michelle Brown and husband Terry of California; Stacie Hull and husband Todd of Prescott; and Mark Eshelman and wife Ragan of Ankeny; four great-grandchildren: Morgan and Tristan Cline; Hunter Hartsock; and Olivia Casebolt; and three step-great-grandchildren: Taylor, Ryan and Rachyl Hull.
Preceding Leland in death were his parents; son: Steve; Daughter-in-law: Mary (Smith) Wilson; his three older brothers: Norval, Earl, and Ray Wilson; Niece: Janice Clark; and great-grandson: Jarrod Cline.
He also leaves many nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
