Leota Fresh, 89, of Creston, entered eternal rest Monday, November 18, 2019 at CrestHaven Care Centre in Creston. Services will be 11:30 AM, Friday, November 22, 2019 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery Street in Creston, IA. Timothy Haynie, Church of Christ in Creston, will Officiate. Leota will be laid to rest in the Graceland Cemetery in Creston. A public viewing will be 2-7 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM on Thursday. Leota Mae Fresh was born in Creston, Iowa on August 25, 1930. The only child of Lloyd Bernard “Sundown” Edwards and Teresa Berniece (Ardin) Edwards. Leota was educated in the Creston Public Schools and graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1948. On June 6, 1955, Leota was united in marriage to Theodore Everett Fresh in Kansas City, Missouri. The couple worked together as Owners and Operators of a restaurant in Kansas City. Leota and Ted never had children and the couple continued their restaurant business for many years, until Ted’s death in 1987. Leota returned to Creston in 1987 and worked as a Hostess at the Windrow for 17 years, until her retirement. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Creston. Leota was also a member of the Church of Christ in Creston. The last several years, Leota has resided at CrestHaven Care Centre, surrounded by her extended family and friends.
Preceding Leota in death was her husband, Ted, in 1987; her parents and several cousins.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving, extended family: 1st cousins: Ron & Donna Edwards of Creston; Carolyn Schuemann of Des Moines, IA and Arthur Konkler of Creston. 2nd cousins: Sharon Juergens of Virginia; Karen & Mike Springer of Reno, NV; Jeff & Annette Busbee of Cedar Rapids, IA; Mike & Mary Beth Juergens of Johnston, IA and Kathi & Mark Miller of Creston. Leota is also survived by other cousins and extended family.
