Lois Hagle

April 29, 1916 — September 15, 2014

Lois (Routh) Hagle passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Corning Nursing and Rehab Center in Corning Iowa. Lois was born April 29, 1916 in Salem, MO to Guy and Anna (Crocker) Routh. Lois was baptized in the Latter Day Saints Church in Creston, IA and later changed her membership to the United Disciples of Christ in Prescott, IA. She graduated from Cromwell, IA High School in 1933. She was married to Mervin “Hap” Hagle on January 2, 1935 in Creston IA.
Lois and Hap had two daughters: Beverly and Sherry. She was raised and lived on a farm her entire life until she moved to Prescott in 1997. She opened a café in Prescott for 2 years and the Café at the Adams County Auction for 23years. She served on the Kline Museum Board and the PTA of Prescott School. She also served on the Prescott Septemberfest committee and as a director on the Housing for the Elderly Board. She was an Elder at the Prescott Church. She was honored to be Co-Grand Marshall of the Septemberfest Parade in 1995. She was installed as a member of the State of Iowa Hall of Fame for volunteers of Adams County in the 1991 by Governor Terry Branstad. She belonged to the Friday Bridge Club, the Bag Ladies group and the Friday morning coffee club.
Lois is survived by her son-in-law, Larry Skelton of Fontanelle, IA and his Special Friend, Lois Nolan of Corning, IA, Four grandchildren: Gary (Carol) Paulus of Pleasant Hill, IA; Theresa Paulus of Tulsa, OK, Jeanne (Chris) Bernacki of Jacksonville, FL and Jeff Skelton of Corning, IA; 10 “great” grandchildren; Seven “great-great” grandchildren; Five step children; Two nieces and Two nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Hap; Daughters: Beverly Sheriff and Sherry Skelton; grandson, James Wesley Skelton; son-in-law, Leo Sheriff; two sisters and one brother.
