Lois Maud Stewart, daughter of Lloyd Otto and Mabel Isabelle (Nelson) Septer was born on December 12, 1916 near Grant, Iowa. Lois entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the age of ninety-two years and two months.
Lois was raised on a farm east of Lincoln Center. She graduated from Corning High School with the class of 1934. After graduating, Lois obtained her teaching certificate and taught in rural schools for six years. She was united in marriage to Vernon “Pete” Earl Stewart on May 19, 1941 in Morris, Oklahoma and two children were born to bless this union: Verna Marie and Earl Lee.
The couple began their life on a farm located southwest of Corning. They lived on the same farm for over twenty years where she was a homemaker and a farm wife. After Vernons passing in 1961, Lois and the children moved to Corning. Lois worked at various jobs throughout Corning, including Getters Drug Store.
Lois was a kind and loving mother and enjoyed her children and grandchildren very much. She enjoyed her home, going out to eat and playing aggravation with her friends.
Left to cherish Lois memory are her children: Verna Marie and her husband Bob of Indianola, Iowa and Earl Lee and his wife Roseanne of St. Joseph, Missouri; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon “Pete” Stewart on July 21, 1961; brother, Glen Septer; sisters: Effie Palmer and Eleanor Goldsmith.
