Lola Grace Ellis (Ramsey) Butler was born December 23, 1924 in Carbon, Iowa to Rolla Ralph and Gladys Rozella Fast Ellis. She entered into rest August 30, 2010 in Lenox, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Pearson-Coen-Beaty Family Funeral Service in Corning, Iowa.
Lola helped care for her 7 brothers and sisters, her 4 step-siblings, her mother and grandmother. She graduated from Nodaway High School in 1942. She then moved out on her own and rented a room from the West family in Corning. She gained employment working as a bookkeeper for the Earl John’s Dairy in Corning.
She married Clair Ramsey at the Methodist Church in Corning and they moved to Council Bluffs. While in Council Bluffs, she worked for the Continental Keller Furniture Company as their bookkeeper. Clair preceded her in death in December, 1964.
She met Jack Butler and they were married April 23, 1966 in Prescott, Iowa. She welcomed 3 Butler children into her life: Jackie, Kady and Kelly. She also was blessed to have another mother figure in her life in Jack’s mother Hazel.
Lola devoted the rest of her life to helping Jack in the family farming operation. She was very skilled at the bookkeeping aspect, but was also a good partner in the field. She talked often of the times that she and Jack were able to travel to the car races in Indiana and Florida; seeing countryside on the west coast, and their trips to Canada and Alaska.
