Loren Keith Benedict

Loren Keith Benedict, the son of Melvernan and Rose (Little) Benedict was born September 18, 1915, in Winterset, Iowa. Loren entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center, Creston, Iowa, at the age of ninety-five years.
On April 6, 1943, Loren married Reva Swaim in Maryville, Missouri. Loren joined the United States Army on March 26, 1942. He served during World War II as a tank operator in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Loren received the Victory Medal; European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Battle Star; Three Overseas Service Bars; Good Conduct Medal; and a Silver Star Medal. Loren was honorably discharged in October, 1945.
Loren and Reva enjoyed dancing. They traveled to all parts of Iowa to square and round dances. Loren was a farmer and worked many years for the Creston Schools as a bus driver and janitor.
Loren is survived by his sister-in-law, Gertrude Benedict, New Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reva in 2004; his sisters: Vanora Mullins and Wilma Overton; and his brothers: Kenneth and Vernon Benedict.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice, 122 Public Square, P. O. Box 79, Greenfield, Iowa.
