Lorraine Zimmerman

Kathryn Lorraine Wells Zimmerman died on Friday, May 27, 2011, at the age of 99, at the Corning Nursing and Rehab Center.
Lorraine was born March 23, 1912 in the family home in Tabor, Iowa. She graduated from Tabor High School and Simpson College, majoring in English, where she was also a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority, She returned in1933 to Tabor, where she taught fifth grade for four years. She met Carl H. Zimmerman in 1934 when he came to teach in Tabor and they were married on June 13, 1937. Their first years of marriage were spent in Donnellson, Leon, and Malvern, Iowa. While in Malvern their two children, Jean and Charles, were born. In the spring of 1943 they moved to Corning.
Lorraine was a homemaker, supportive of her husband and his work as well as her children and their schooling. She was active in the Presbyterian Church and its choir and Deborah Circle. She was an active member of Chapter CV P.E.O. She worked in the Corning Public Library from 1958 until 1974, a job she truly loved. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball team and Iowa State University athletics.
She is survived by her two children, Jean, Dexter, MI and Chuck and wife, Bobbi, St. Joseph, MO and four grandchildren, Kathy Loup, Boston, MA, Jeff Zimmerman, Salina, KS, Tom Loup and wife, Lisa, Stoughton, WI and Susan Hernandez and husband, Daniel, Phoenix, AZ and four great-grandchildren, Jaden Zimmerman, Ella Lorraine Loup, Olivia Hernandez and Henry Loup, and by eight nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on January 12, 2005, her parents, Robert Ellis and Anna Wells, her sister Marjorie Wells, her brother Charles Wells and his wife Dorothy, her brother-in-law Robert Zimmerman and his wife Adele, and her brother-in-law Hugo Zimmerman and his wife Doris.
