Louise P. Winkler

Louise Pauline Winkler, the daughter of Richard E. and Louise E. (Pagel) Winkler, was born on September 15, 1913, near Creston, in Union County, Iowa. Louise entered eternal rest on October 8, 2007, at Crest Haven Care Centre at the age of ninety-four years and twenty-three days.
Louise attended school at Spaulding #8 and graduated with the Class of 1931. Louise lived in Creston and Union County all of her life. She worked in the catalog department and the accounting department at Montgomery Ward for several years. Then, Louise worked as the Union County Recorder for nearly thirty years until the late 1960s. Following her years as the Recorder, she worked at Hoover Industries in the Accounting Department in Lenox for several years. Louise also sold Avon and insurance for many years.
Louise was a former member of St. Johns United Church of Christ and later transferred her membership to the First Christian Church. While at St. Johns, she was superintendent of the Sunday School Program for many years and served on the Board. Louise was also a member of BPW, the Hospital Auxiliary and belonged to the Republican Women Organization.
Left to mourn Louises passing are her nieces and nephew: Kathryn “Kay” (Alan) Oshel, Flemington, MO; Linda (Fred) Shearer, Corning; Dick (Diana) Winkler, Lorimor; Carolyn (Doug) Oldenkamp, West Des Moines, IA; and her great-nieces and great-nephew: Denise (Brent) Welch, Boonville, MO; Michelle (Jon) Woods, Bolivar, MO; and Cody Winkler, Lorimor, IA; and great-great niece: Logan Ashpaugh.
Preceding Louise in death were her Parents; her Brother, LeRoy Winkler (November, 1988), her Sister, Nellie Winkler (January, 1993); and her Sisters-in-Law: Marie Ehm (April, 1969) and Marie Van Pelt Winkler (September, 1993).
