Lucile Core

Anita Lucile Core, daughter of Prentis Omar and Ennice Aneita (Preston) Lawrence, was born on Wednesday, November 2, 1932 in Iowa City, Iowa. Lucile went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Alegent Health Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of seventy-seven years and fourteen days.
Lucile was born into a family of ten children, five boys and five girls. They were raised on a farm south of Brooks. The family had few luxuries and worked very hard raising chickens, pigs, cows and gardens to provide for their large family.
Lucile attended country school and Corning High School, graduating with the Class of 1950. She was baptized into the Corning Christian by Pastor Ray Nixon in June of 1950.
Lucile was married to Billie Dean Keever and three children were born to this union: Timothy Hugh, Michael Wayne and Debra Sue. The couple divorced in May of 1967.
Lucile met Stanley Dean Core, of Villisca, at a blind date party. The couple fell in love and was united in marriage on June 1, 1969 at the Corning Christian Church. Son, Daniel Philip was born to bless this union.
Lucile was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She was a cashier at Selsbys Grocery store, formerly known as IGA and later provided daycare in her home as well. Church was an abundant part of Luciles life. She taught Sunday School and was in the choir, as well as serving as Church Elder and CWF President. She was a Lay Minister plus wrote Advent and Christmas programs for the Church. She created sewing projects for the church Outreach Program, was a 4H Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She adored and loved children, quilting, reading and music. She will be missed by all.
Left to cherish Luciles memory is her husband, Stanley Core of Corning; sons: Michael (Kathlyn) Keever of Lincoln, NE and Daniel (Katrina) Core of Beaverton, OR; daughter, Debra (Mary Ann) Humphrey - Keever of Portland, OR; daughter-in-law, Debbie J. Keever of Gray Lake, IL; grandchildren: Chad and Sean Keever of IL, Parke and Wynnston Humphrey - Keever of Portland, OR and Andrea Keever of LaCrosse, WI; brothers: Robert (Carol) Lawrence of Steilacoom, WA, Dale (Eva) Lawrence of Puyallup, WA, Stanley (Jean) Lawrence of Stanwood, IA; sisters: Janet Bryce of Lebanon, OR and Mary Lawrence Jones of Stanberry, MO; many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Lucile in death were her parents; son, Timothy Keever; brothers: Dean and Phillip Lawrence; sisters: Betty Murphy and Harriet Spring; beloved niece and nephew: Lisa Schmidt and Doug Chute; brothers-in-law: Frances Murphy, Paul Spring, Paul Lawrence, Ron Jones and sisters-in-law: Sara Mae Lawrence and Sylvia Lawrence.
