Lynn C. Parrott

June 9, 1914 — May 6, 2008

Lynn C. Parrott, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Kavanagh House Hospice Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 93 years.
Lynn was born in the Afton area on June 9, 1914. He was the son of Maude (Zager) Parrott and A. L. Parrott. Until retirement, he lived on and worked the family farm near Dodge Center. Following retirement, he lived in Afton, Creston and Adel, Iowa.
On May 30, 1936 in Creston, Iowa, Lynn married Pauline Young of the Afton area. To bless this union, four children were born: Donald Parrott, Glenda Andreini, John Parrott, and Gary Parrott.
Lynn was a quiet man who was always willing to help a friend or neighbor with any project. He loved to work with his hands and was able to repair almost anything mechanical and build almost anything he set his mind to. Lynn enjoyed hunting and especially the opening day of pheasant season with friends and family. Getting together with family and friends for home-made ice cream and playing cards was always a favorite. He enjoyed his time on the Sheriffs Posse in Union County and working at the Union County Historical Society. Another of Lynns favorite things were family gatherings and spending time with the youngsters. He was a great listener and loved to listen to others discuss the problems of the world and the neighborhood. In later years, Lynn and Pauline enjoyed traveling the United States with their camper. Lynn taught his children the lessons of hard work and honesty. All that knew him will miss him.
Preceding Lynn in death were his parents; three brothers: LeRoy, Earl, and Ivan. Lynn was also preceded in death by his grandson, Brian Sale.
Left to cherish Lynns memory are his wife of 71 years, Pauline, of Bondurant, IA; his sons: Donald of Afton, IA, John (wife Tink) of Solon, IA, Gary (wife Lana) of Altoona, IA; and his daughter, Glenda of Des Moines, IA. Lynn is also survived by his six grandchildren; his seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
