Madge Walberg

b. December 26, 1910

Madge was born to Samuel and Tessa (Recknor) McNees on December 26, 1910, in Creston, Iowa. She attended public school in Creston. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1932 and later taught in public schools for thirty-seven years in Creston, Forest Park, and Oak Park, Illinois. She directed the choir for a couple of years and also taught a class of junior high school girls in Sunday School.
On June 24, 1950, she married Carl Walberg of Chicago. They joined the Judson Baptist Church of Oak Park where she was on the Board of Deaconesses, sang in the choir, and taught in the Sunday School for many years. She also taught English at Moody Bible Institute for two terms.
After retiring from teaching in 1971, she and Carl moved to Sun City, Arizona, where they joined the First Baptist Church of Youngtown. She directed the choir for a period of time and was on the Board of Deaconesses. After about fifteen years they moved back to Creston.
Madge trusted the Lord Jesus as her Savior from a very early age and served Him. She believed “Only one life twill soon be past, Only whats done for Christ will last”.

She is survived by her nephews: Frank Ickis of Crete, Illinois; Paul Walberg of Toledo, Ohio; Timothy Walberg of Tipton, Michigan; and several cousins, nieces, grand nieces and grand nephews and friends.
