Malcolm Bruce Hodge

Malcolm “Bruce” Hodge was born in Creston on September 14, 1951 to Malcolm Elbridge and Mary Maxine (Walker) Hodge. Bruce was raised in Creston and attended the Creston Public Schools. He graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1969. In his youth, Bruce and his family attended the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston. He also served on the Union County Sheriffs Posse.
Bruce was united in marriage to Julie Ann Allen and a son, David was born to this union. The couple later divorced. On October 28, 1978, Bruce married Judy Ann Waske in Creston. Bruce and Judy would welcome home two more children: Justin and Dana.
In his younger years, Bruce worked at Skellys, Purolator, Wellmans, Martin Brothers, and Lil Duffer. He then worked for the City of Creston as Superintendent of Graceland Cemetery for thirty five years, from 1980 until his retirement in 2015. During many of those years he also oversaw the Creston Airport and Creston Animal Control department. Bruce will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Judy Hodge of Creston; three children: David (Melissa) Hodge of West Des Moines, Justin Hodge of Creston and Dana (Shaun) Larson of Clearfield; 3 grandchildren: Logan Hodge, Chloe Hodge and Brock Eagan; his brother, Robert (Becky) Hodge of Logan, IA; two sisters: Jacqueline Bonus of Creston and Linda McIntyre of Ogden, IA; mother-in-law, Joan Waske of Afton; 5 brothers-in-law: Kevin Waske of London Mills, IL, Tim (Tawny) Waske of Creston, Bill Waske of Creston, Bob (Autumn) Waske of Creston and Marty Waske of Afton; 5 sisters-in-law: Lisa (Greg) Boden of Indianola, IA, Amy (Kevin) Bishop of Carlisle, IA, Eva (Igor) Takacs of Leon, IA, Mary (Frank) LaClair of Plattsmouth, NE and Jane Waske of Kansas City, MO; Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Bruce in death was his parents; father-in-law, Joseph Waske; 2 brothers-in-law: Frances Bonus and Tim McIntyre; and a niece, Angela Hodge.
