Margaret Ann “Bid” Blazek was born July 4, 1936, to James Fenton and Mary Cecilia (Dant) Garity in Maloy, Iowa. Bid entered eternal rest on February 21, 2007, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of seventy years, seven months, and nineteen days.
Bid was raised on a farm and attended Country School. Later the family moved to Union County where she attended the Afton Public School. While in high school Bid enjoyed playing basketball. After completion of school, Bid played softball for Gits Manufacturing on a city league.
On February 3, 1961, Bid was united in marriage to John Edward Blazek in Creston, Iowa. The couple moved to the family farm near Prescott where Bid was a homemaker and farm wife. To this union five children were born, Deammie, Gary “Jake”, Tammy, Patricia Lynn, and Daniel “Boone”.
Some of Bids hobbies included going out for supper with John and friends on Friday night. The couple attended various American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary events. On Friday mornings you could always find Bid enjoying coffee and good conversation with her friends from the Prescott Coffee Club.
Two of Bids most memorable events were the vacation John and her had in Hawaii. Bid also enjoyed playing golf. On July 3, 1983, Bid had a “hole in one” on the third green at the Pine Valley Golf Course in Creston, Iowa.
Bid was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Even in the last few days when she was not feeling well she was determined to watch the Iowa Hawkeye game on T.V.
Survivors include her husband John Blazek; four children: Deammie Blazek; Gary “Jake” (wife Lisa) Blazek; Tammy (husband Mark) Rychnovsky; Daniel “Boone” (wife Angie) Blazek; Ten Grandchildren: Jocelyn and Robyn Blazek; Deirdre Blazek; Brook and Blake Rychnovsky; Tya Glendenning, Taryn Naill, Rusti Anglin, Treyg Webb, and Nathaniel Blazek; Six sisters: RoseMary (Rex) Kneedler; Laura (Bob) ORiley; Helen Gillen; Martha (Darwin) Miller; Agnes (Hal) Burton; and Teresa (Lonnie) Reynolds; Two sisters-in-law: Elaine McPherson; and Kim Henderson; Five Brothers: Fred (Elaine) Garity; Pat (Linda) Garrity; Richard (Dee) Garity; Ed (Sharon) Garity; and David Garity; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding Bid in death were her parents: James and Mary; her mother- and father-in-law: Gladys and Rudolph Blazek; a daughter: Patricia Lynn Blazek in 1970. In Pattys memory a pink rose has been placed in her hands. Also three brothers: Michael, in infancy; Joe and Ted Garity.
