Marilyn Blazek

Marilyn Jane Blazek, the daughter of Elmer Edwin and Myrtle Victoria (Westenburg) Wager, was born in Creston, Iowa on December 20, 1935. Marilyn graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1954 and married Edward B. Blazek on December 9, 1956 at the Methodist Church in Creston.  Three children were born to bless this union:  Cindy, Scott and Steve.
Following her marriage, Marilyn began selling Avon products and would continue off and on, for more than 20 years as an Avon Representative. She would also work for Lloyd Berry at Supreme Cleaners for many years, until Lloyd sold the business.  Along with Avon, Marilyn would work more than 20 years at Walmart, mostly as a Cashier.  In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed baking and was known for her coffee cake, sour cream chocolate cake, oatmeal cake, angel food cake, her cookies and her pies.  She loved to meet up with her friends for dinner and coffee; and playing cribbage.  In the evening, Marilyn liked to watch Wheel of Fortune and the Lawrence Welk Show.  Most of all, she enjoyed her visits to the Lakeside Casino, where she could try her luck.  During her lifetime, Marilyn took great care of many cats.  Marilyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Creston and her beloved sorority, Beta Sigma Phi.

Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents; her son, Steve Blazek in 2017; her sister, Gwen Roberts and brother-in-law, Art Roberts and a nephew, Mark Roberts.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Edward Blazek, Prescott, IA; daughter, Cindy Shelley, Creston, IA and son, Scott Blazek, Prescott, IA; 3 grandchildren:  Cara Truitt (George Weiland), Ankeny, IA, Chase Blazek (Macie Cline), Creston, IA and Dean Blazek, Prescott, IA; daughter-in-law, Tresa Blazek, Prescott, IA; step grandchildren:  Stacy Danielson, Shelby (Philip) Priest and Shannon Andreasen; great grandson, Edward Truitt and 3 step great-grandchildren; Niece, Karen (Duncan) Everhart, AlumBank, PA; nephew, Richard Roberts, Normal, IL; several great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.
