Marion Gildsig

Marion Duane Gildsig, the son of Nels Andrew and Laura Alice (Woods) Gildsig, was born on October 22, 1943 in Creston, Iowa. Marion entered eternal rest on October 4, 2013, at his home near Creston, Iowa at the age of sixty-nine years.
Marion lived his entire life in Creston. He graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1961. On April 25, 1964, he married Jeanette Eileen Spriggs in Creston.
Marion was a fireman for thirty-three years. He began working with the Creston Volunteer Fire Department. A few years later he became a full-time paid member of the Creston Fire Department, and he was also a First Responder. Marion farmed for over fifty years. He farmed on North Cherry Street Road and also farmed the Danielson Farm. In addition, Marion worked at Pearson Family Funeral Service since 2003; he worked at Barkers Implement; and he worked as a jailor at the Creston Law Center.
Marion was Past President of Crestmoor Golf Club and was currently serving on the Board of the Golf Club. He was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Left to cherish Marion’s memory is his wife, Jeanette Gildsig, Creston; his daughters: Gale (Cris) Goodale, Adel; and Kerri (Sean) Smith, Waukee; his five grandchildren: Ryan Goodale; Staci Goodale; Alex Smith; Jack Smith; and Ben Smith; his mother-in-law, Alice Spriggs, Creston; his brother-in-law, John Spriggs, Creston; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives including Sandra (Dick) Danhert, Minneapolis, MN; and Eva (Harris) Perkins, Creston.
Preceding Marion in death were his parents; his father-in-law, Verne Spriggs; his sister, Darlene Page; his daughter, Monica Gildsig; and his brother-in-law, Mike Spriggs.
