Marvin Mercer Stoaks, son of Andrew and Emily (Mercer) Stoaks was born in Lenox, Iowa on November 19, 1917. Marvin entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Lenox Care Center in Lenox, Iowa at the age of ninety-one years.
Marvin grew up on a farm and was always a boy at heart. This was evident in his later years as he created craft items.
Marvin married Geni Anderson and to this union there were three children. Steve, who died at the age of 6 months, Ron and Cindy.
Later he met and married Dorothy Martin. Dorothy had two daughters: Sherry (husband Bill) Mannies and Debbie Martin, from her late husband and Marvin took much pride in them.
Marvin was an electrician by trade and also worked at Montgomery Ward, Henry Field Seed and Nursery and JC Penney .
Marvin cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and greatly valued his friendships he developed throughout the years. He was also known to be quite the comic and pulled many practical jokes.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Ronald E. (wife Loreene) Stoaks of Shenandoah, Iowa, Cindy Stoaks of Roeland Park, Kansas and Lisa (husband Mark) (Stoaks) Long of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy in 1989; brothers: Vernon and Donald Stoaks and sister, Veldeva Fonner.
