Mary Jo Foster

Mary Jo Foster, the daughter of Joe and Mary (OIsen) Henry, was born on July 29, 1925 in Creston, Iowa. Mary Jo entered eternal rest on September 7, 2014 at the Afton Care Center, Afton, Iowa at the age of eighty-nine years, one month and nine days.
Mary Jo graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1943. On July 22, 1945, she married Charles Ellis Foster at the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston.
Following graduation, Mary Jo worked for Woolworth’s in Creston. Charles and Mary Jo lived in Camanche, Iowa for seventeen years and she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Sportsmans Exchange. They moved back to Afton, Iowa in July, 1987 and she worked at the Hallmark Store in Creston.
Mary Jo was a long-time member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston. Mary Jo had a musical talent and enjoyed playing the piano and the organ at the church.
Left to cherish Mary Jo’s memory are her nieces: Karen (Ronald) Simpson, Shannon City, IA; and Roberta Henry, Creston; her great-nieces: Kim (Mark) Kopke, Amarillo, TX; and Deb (Jeff) Thummel, Sheridan, MO; her great-nephews: Mike (Maureen) Henry, Creston; and Chuck (Roberta) Henry, Creston; her great-great-nieces: Jennifer Long, Amarillo, TX; Sydney Thummel, Sheridan, MO; and Keirstan Henry, Creston; her great-great-nephews: Josh Henry, Creston; Austin (Kylee) Thummel, Parnell, MO: Chase Thummel, Sheridan, MO; Montana Kopke, Amarillo, TX; and Zach Henry, Valentine, NE; and her sister-in-law: Eleanor McGaffin, Sioux City, IA.
Preceding Mary Jo in death were her parents; her husband on November 13, 2007; her three brothers: Russell, Clinton, and Walter Henry; her sister, Dorothy Henry; her nephew, David Henry; her great-niece, Linda Henry; and her great-great nephews: Travis Henry and Nick Henry.
