Mary M. Goldsmith

Mary M. Goldsmith, the daughter of William and Phyllis (Conway) Kennedy, was born on May 6, 1913, at Nodaway, Iowa. Mary entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital, Corning, Iowa, at the age of ninety-five.
Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Corning. Rev. Heecheon Jeon will officiate. Burial will be at the Prairie Rose Cemetery, Adams County, Iowa. Visitation will be open from 1:00 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 4. Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church and/or Corning Public Library.
Mary graduated from Nodaway High School. On March 25, 1931, she married Lewis Goldsmith. Mary lived most of her life on a farm south of Corning. Mary was a homemaker and farm wife. She had a large garden and was a great cook. She moved to town in 1977. Mary was a member of the Corning United Methodist Church; The Neighborly Neighbors and the Just Friends Clubs.
Left to cherish Marys memory are her children: Joann (Milton) Fricke, Omaha, NE; Janet (Jerry) Strong, Olympia, WA; DeAnn Hensdale, Council Bluffs, IA; Gary (Val) Goldsmith, Corning; Daughter-in-Law: Norma Goldsmith, Corning; Son-in-Law: Harvey Peterson, Corning; Fifteen Grandchildren; Twenty Great-Grandchildren; and One Great-Great Granddaughter.
Preceding Mary in death were her Parents; Husband, Lewis, in 1987; Infant Son: Randall; Sons: Richard Goldsmith and Glen Goldsmith; Daughter: Karen Peterson; Three Sisters: Sarah Johnston, Grayce Porter, and Helen Syhlman.
