Maxine Huntington

December 25, 1936 — April 18, 2015

Maxine Huntington, the middle child of Fred and Elaine (Holderbaum) Fink, was born December 25, 1936 on a farm in Madison County, Iowa. Maxine, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, went to be with the lord Saturday, April 18, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa at the age of seventy-eight years, three months, and twenty-four days. Her early childhood was spent on the family farm south of Dexter. She attended country school Penn No. 4, and graduated from Dexter High School, May 1955. After graduation, she went to work at Bankers Life Insurance. She married Arthur Huntington June 6, 1959. Over the next few years, they welcomed two daughters into their family, Karen and Sharon.
Maxine and Arthur lived in Creston and Maxine was a homemaker while Arthur worked at the farmer’s co-op and helped on the family farm. When Arthur’s father passed away in 1967, they moved to the farm north of Creston. Maxine was an Avon representative for several years. After the girls graduated, she went to work for K-mart for over 10 years and then Easters/EconoFoods for over 10 years. She has been a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. She and Arthur enjoyed square dancing, and she loved reading, playing cards, visiting family, and traveling.
Maxine is survived by daughter, Karen (Dave) Klinkefus of Ankeny, and daughter Sharon Huntington of Creston; two grandchildren: Amy Klinkefus (fiancé Tyler Stoll) of Iowa City and Matt Klinkefus of Ames; one sister, Marilyn (Bob) Fausch of Ames; nieces: Mary (Dave) Neyens of Grimes; and Pam (Blair) Freet of Tipton; and many friends and relatives.
