Neal Brown

Neal Nathan Brown, 82 passed away surrounded by family December 17, 2012 at Corning Alegent Creighton Hospital.
He was born October 16, 1930 in Lewis, IA to George and Burnidette Brown (Doty). He married Evelyn Brown (Rork) on August 28, 1954.
He grew up in Childrens Square in Council Bluffs and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, he then went into the Marines from 1951-1953 rising to the rank of Sergeant. After returning from the military, he graduated from Parsons College with a degree in History and English. He then went on to receive his Masters in Education from Northwest Missouri State University. He began teaching at Corning High School from 1957 until he retired in 1991. During this time he coached junior high football and wrestling. In the summers and after retiring, he ran his own painting business with a variety of people helping him throughout the years. He was a member of the Corning United Methodist Church and the Corning Masonic Lodge.
He enjoyed attending sporting events, especially when his grandchildren were involved, as well as debating current events/politics with anyone who would participate. He also enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Boots & Bows club. He was on the Corning Education Foundation and enjoyed watching kids from the community succeed.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son, Noel (Deanne) Brown of Keokuk; daughters: Diane (Martin) Mohr of Monroe and Beth (Kim) Townsend of Council Bluffs; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings: sister, Jeanette (Bud) Hansen of Grand Island, sister,Carol Dorsch of Omaha, sister, Rosella Dahlin of Casa Mesa, CA, brother, Denny Brown of Cumberland, sister, Patty Edwards of Pollock, LA and sister-in-law, Betty Brown of Cumberland, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Loren; brothers: Lee, Eugene, George and Delbert.
