Orville Templeton

September 20, 1941 — August 10, 2005

Orville Monroe Templeton, Jr. was born September 20, 1941 to Orville M. and Alice Anita (Eidel) Templeton in Des Moines, Iowa. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 10, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Orville was raised in Des Moines and attended school there graduating in 1959. On December 4, 1976 he was united in marriage to Janelle ODell. Although they had no children of their own, there were always several that referred to them as Mom and Dad.
Orville drove a truck for several years and eventually was able to own one which he referred to as the “Flying Dutchman”. Health concerns forced his retirement from trucking in 1981. To this day, whenever he saw a truck, heard tires whining on the asphalt or a jake brake cackle, you could see a twinkle come to his eye. Always a practical joker, people soon learned to watch out for themselves. It was not unusual to be the victim of the “joker” and his many tricks.
Orville and Janelle lived in Des Moines, Shenandoah, then settled in Bedford for several years. When his condition no longer permitted him being home, he and Janelle moved to the Lenox Care Center in July 2005.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Janelle, brother Larry D. Templeton, Des Moines, Iowa; adopted sister, Marlene (Ron) Darling, Lenox, Iowa; brother-in-law, Keith (Pat) ODell, New Market, Iowa; and adopted son, Gene (Teresa) Straw, Lenox, Iowa.
He was preceded by his parents, parents-in-law, and several aunts and uncles.
