Paul Bailey

May 3, 1925 — April 15, 2011

Paul Vincent Bailey, the son of Gale Austin and Neva Muriel (Owens) Bailey, was born on May 3, 1925, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Paul entered eternal rest on April 15, 2011, at his home near Creston, Iowa at the age of eighty-five years.
Paul lived in Adams and Union County most of his life. He graduated from Cromwell High School with the Class of 1942. He began farming right out of high school and drove a truck for his father. He farmed in Adams and Union counties. On April 3, 1949, he married Verna Mae Reasland at the Cromwell Church and they have been married for sixty-two years.
In addition to farming, Paul worked as a hail adjuster for Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance for twenty years. Paul was a long-time, active member of the Cromwell Congregational United Church of Christ Church. He was a former member of the Cromwell School Board; past board member of Creston Feed and Grain; and past President of the Lions Club. He was a Mason and a member of the Creston Elks Lodge. Paul and Verna served as leaders with the Douglas Boosters 4-H and were the first couple to be honorary members of the FFA. They were active in the Booster Club and the Beef Committee at the Union County Fair.
Left to cherish Pauls memory are his wife, Verna Bailey, Creston; his daughters: Carol (husband Ken) Sharp, Creston; and Christine Bailey, Des Moines; his sons: Gary (wife Val) Bailey, Creston; Greg (wife Mindy) Bailey, Creston; and Larry (wife Kelsey) Bailey, Creston; his eleven grandchildren: Amy (husband Chris) Kralik; Kevin (wife Amy) Sharp; Kurtis (wife Naomi) Sharp; Cory and Cody Bailey; Cooper, Dillon and Marcey Bailey; and Keegan, Kolbey, and Kadley Bailey; his five great-grandchildren: Cael and Jacy Kralik; Sterling and Adrianna Sharp; and Ryder Sharp; his aunt: Edna Bailey Rong, Clearfield; and several cousins.
Preceding Paul in death were his parents; his daughter, Marcena Bailey; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
