Paul Haffner

Paul John Haffner, son of Charles and Elizabeth (Bornhausen) Haffner, was born on January 19, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. Paul went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 24, 2012 at his home near Corning, Iowa at the age of seventy-three years, one month and five days.
Paul graduated high school in Chicago and received his Associates Degree at Valparaiso University in Indiana. After college, Paul was drafted and served in the United States Army from January 22, 1962 until his Honorable Discharge on December 18, 1965. Paul then went to work as an Accountant in the Credit Division of AMCO Oil Company in Chicago. He transferred to Des Moines in 1975 while his future wife was in medical school.
Paul was united in marriage to Betty Rose on May 10, 2002. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and lived his life as a child of God.
Paul was a man who loved fine dining and travel. He was absolutely fascinated by children, spontaneously buying small gifts for their parents to give to them. He cherished his home with his wife at “Dog Holler”, just outside of Corning. He spent many peaceful hours in his favorite chair with his devoted chihuahua, Cowboy.
Left to cherish Pauls memory is his wife, Betty Haffner Rose of Corning, Iowa; daughter, Kittie (Paul) Barber of Corning, Iowa; step-daughter, Connie (Paul) Hastad of Knoxville, Iowa; step-daughter, Julie (Jon) Lange of Enon, Ohio; step-son, Newell (Rie) Rose of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In recent years, Paul also embraced the addition of, 3 grown sons, Michael, John David Esdohr. They were a great joy and comfort in his declining days.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Thomas; and his sister, Sarah.
