Pauline Parrott

December 26, 1911 — April 22, 2011

Ethel Pauline Parrott, the daughter of John E. and Ethel Maude (Alley) Young, was born on December 26, 1911, in Adair County near Greenfield, Iowa. Pauline entered eternal rest on April 22, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, at the age of ninety-nine years.
Pauline was raised on a farm five miles north of Afton. She graduated from Afton High School and received her Bachelors Degree from Park College in Parkville, Missouri. On May 30, 1936, Pauline married Lynn Parrott in Creston, Iowa.
Pauline and Lynn farmed together nine miles north of Afton on a farm purchased from her parents. Pauline was a teacher and homemaker all of her life. She started teaching country school, then taught school in Orient-Macksburg. She taught Special Education in Murray. Pauline was an active member of the Union County Historical Society for many years. She was a member of Dodge Center Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Retired Teachers Association. She won many awards at the county fair for cooking and other things.
After Lynns retirement, they built a house on the Creamery Road near Afton. They moved to Creston, then Adel, Bondurant and finally Solon, Iowa to be near their children, John and Glenda.
Left to cherish Paulines memory are her children: Donald Parrott, Afton; Glenda Andreini, Solon, IA; John (wife Tink) Parrott, Solon, IA; and Gary (wife Lana) Parrott, Altoona, IA; her seven grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law: Iris Young, Albuquerque, NM; and Lucille Young, Des Moines, IA; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Pauline in death were her parents; her husband, Lynn, in 2008; her grandson, Brian Sale; her great-grandson, Trevor Hackl; and her two brothers: John J. Young and Phillip Young.
Memorials may be directed to the Afton Community Center
