Percy West, Jr.

Percy Sylvester West, Jr., the son of Percy Sylvester West, Sr. and Hannah (Pinkney) West, was born in Chicago, IL on February 12, 1954. Percy grew up in Chicago where he attended public school and later received his GED. He moved from Chicago to Creston in 1996 where he worked for Dollar General when he first arrived. Percy then worked at various part-time jobs including Papettis, Bunn, Trolli, and Manifest Destiny before he began working for Wellman Dynamics. He worked at Wellmans for 20 years, most recently as a casting solution processor, until declining health made it impossible for him to work.
Percy was an avid fan of the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). He loved to cook, especially trying new barbecue recipes. Percy also loved to dance and have a good time, spending all the time he could with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, DeeCee West; daughter, Kacee Kennedy; two sons: Anthony Shell and Percy West, III, all of Creston; three sisters: Barbara West-Lake, April Mack-West and Gloriadane, all of Chicago; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Percy in death were his parents; four brothers: Herschel, Herbert and Lawrence Pinkney, and Anthony West; sister-in-law, Mattie West; and mother-in-law, Elane Adams.
